Phoenix

By now the French alt-pop band Phoenix has been making their rounds on blogs and commercials for over a year. That said, there’s as much reason as ever to hit up their 2009 release “Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix.” If you haven’t given them a listen yet listen to “Lisztomania” and “1901” or check out their 2006 LP “It’s Never Been Like That.” Then again if you’re tired of all their shit you can hit up hype machine and just search “Phoenix” and get about 100 pretty clean remixes and mashups.

HEALTH

(Speaking of remixes) HEALTH is an LA based noise rock band with primarily instrumental songs and the occasional haunting, monotone vocal. They dropped the 3rd LP “GET COLOR” earlier this year which is certainly worth a listen. However, I’m aware their sound isn’t really for everyone so if you’re more into the electronic music their 2008 remixes album called “HEALTH//DISCO” is worth your time. Some of the best electronic bands going (see: Acid Girls and Crystal Castles) remix HEALTH’s first album and it should be getting more play than it does.

Gold Panda

Okay. I’m going to level with you guys. I actually don’t know too much about Gold Panda, and bless my little heart I can’t seem to find a whole lot of information on them either. “Them”…I actually don’t know if it’s a them or one person. Well, my ineptitude aside they/he/she has some of the dopest ambient music I’ve heard. There’s quite a few songs you can stream from the link above, but the one song I heard that made check all of this out was “Greek Style.” The good news is you can play that song there, but I can’t seem to find it anywhere else including on the tracklist under their/his/her discography. In any case hit up “Greek Style” and pretend your life was a movie, because that shit needs to be on a soundtrack.
